Learn
Japanese
the fun way.
Make Japanese vocabulary stick.
Study a few words, recall them from memory, and put them to use in a game.
Looking at a word
is easy.
Recalling it isn't.
Recognizing a word is one thing. Remembering the reading without a hint takes practice.
Inky shows you the reading, meaning, example sentence, and kanji breakdown. Then it hides the answer and makes you recall it yourself. If you miss it, the word comes back.
TRY A DECK- 01
Actually understand.
See the reading, meaning, pronunciation, and kanji breakdown. Study one card or four at once.
- 02
Remember, for real.

Review what you missed.
Save favorites, open your Needs Work deck, or do another ten words. Built for practice.
What's the reading?
ROMAJI OR HIRAGANA BOTH WORK.
Study it.
Or fight it.
Sometimes study a few words.
Sometimes turn it into a game.
Today.
For the JLPT.
For real life.
For whatever comes up.
Don’t just memorize words for a test.
There are frequency and JLPT N5–N1 decks for structured study. There are also words about relationships, going out, social situations, and things you come across in songs.
Stuff you run into in your real fucking life.

A few things
worth knowing.
Is an account required?
No. You can use it as a guest. Your favorites and progress are saved in your browser. Sign in with email if you want to sync across devices.
Is a Japanese keyboard required?
No. Type romaji and Inky converts it to hiragana. You can also type in Japanese or switch to katakana.
Where should you start?
If you're new, start with the Kana Quiz. If you already know hiragana and katakana, try a ten-word frequency deck or pick a JLPT level.
What happens when you get a word wrong?
It comes back during recall and goes into your Needs Work deck. You can keep reviewing it instead of pretending you already know it.
